Shot Types (Camera angles)


 

Camera angles and shots

This is a close up shot, it displays the tense environment of the plot due to the main focus on the face. The audience can clearly see the face expressions of the character. This makes it very clear to the audience that she is in some kind of trouble and the significance of the face expressions is useful. Usually, close-ups are used in these types of genres to show the reaction on the characters face. This shot captures the details of the scene and allows the viewer to empathise with the character.

This is a long shot from the movie the men in black. This shot represents the man and a dog standing next to each other taking almost the full frame height. The shot contains a large amount of landscape but gives the viewer a more specific idea of the setting.

This shot contains the character from the waist-up. From this shot the viewers can clearly see the expression on the characters face and there interacting with the other character too. This shot shows some part of the subject and giving the viewers some idea of the whole idea behind the scene.
 
Extreme long shot
 
Extreme long shots allows the viewer to have an idea of where and when is the scene taking place. They see the whole landscape and the characters and get the idea of the whole scene. Extreme long shots are usually used in the opening scenes of a film in order to allow the audience to get familiar with the settings and the characters.
 

Aerial view
 
This view is also known as Birds-eye view. This is a shot that looks directly down to the whole scene and gives the audience the pleasure to have a better idea of the scene about to take place. it allows them to get familiar with the settings. It shows everything thats happening from the birds-eye view.
 
Point of view shot from psycho
 
This shot lets the audience see what the character is looking at. The audience sees the hands or the feet of the character so they can directly figure ut what type of shot it is. In this shot the audience sees the lady looking at the book and sends a message that something bad is about to happen.
 

Over the shoulder shot from Titanic
This shot allows the audeince to see the perspective of the character.As if they are being watched or followed by somebody.The purpose of this shot is to engage the audience in to the presence of the character.
