Production and Distribution Companies
There are many distribution companies in the industry, there
job is to distribute the movie depending on its size, type and what kind of a
movie it is. The distribution company is different from the production company.
It is one of the most important things for financing a film. The distributor
set a date for the film when it will be released and the methods of how they
are going to be exhibited. For example, directly to the audience or make
available the viewer for viewing. They can also do this directly if they own
the company themselves.
The production companies are directly responsible for funding
the production. All the budgeting, scheduling, scripting, is done by the
production companies. Many production companies also come together to work as
co-productions. These companies provide the physical basis for the works in the
realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio, and video.
They specialise in producing in-house films.

Distribution is in between the audience and the producers
before the film is sent to the audience for viewing from the production the
distributors see it and decide if it is eligible to go to the audience.
Distribution companies are the source for the production to transfer their
production to the audience. There are specifically three key stages:
production, distribution and exhibition, these are all linked together with
each other. UK system has more focus on the marketing and sustaining of a film
in the local market whereas, the independent studios don’t do that.
Distribution companies also decide how many copies of a film to make. The big
distribution companies are: Viacom, paramount, time warner, fox entertainment.
The films are financed by the distributors, they give out the copyrights to the
movies.
